How To Recreate The Original Pedigree Factory Bun

Items needed:

• Sindy Doll
• Comb
• Cold Water (in a cup is fine)
• Small Elastic Hair Band (I buy mine from Claire's Accessories - they are specially designed for braids)
• Patience (as it can be fiddly and doesn't always go right the first time)

Step 1

Dip the comb in the cold water and comb through sindys hair to make it damp. Ensuring that the hair is not too wet. Continue this until all of the hair is damp and the comb runs through the hair freely.

Step 2

Comb all of the hair toward the nap of the neck by holding the comb flat on the head. Ensuring the hair is smooth at all times.

Step 3

Whilst holding the hair at the nap, smooth out and pull tight the front of the hair to ensure a nice frame around the face.

Step 4

When you have pulled all the hair tight, hold firmly at the nap. With the other hand expand the elastic band between your index finger and your middle finger.

This is what the hair should look like from the front when held firmly at the nap.

This is what the hair should look like from the back when held firmly at the nap.

Step 5

At this point you should have the hair held firmly in one hand and the elastic band stretched between you index finger and your middle finger on the other hand. Starting from the top of the head, gently but firmly slide the elastic band down the head until you reach the nap of the neck where your other hand is.

Step 6

Pull the elastic band over the bottom and around the hair whilst keeping it secure in place with your hand, twist the elastic band and repeat once more to ensure the elastic band is secure in the hair.

Step 7

Sindys hair should then be secure and look like this.

Step 8

Hold the head firmly and start to comb gently from the top toward the nap of the neck to smooth out any gaps or bumps left in the hair.

Step 9

Hold the bottom of the hair between your fingers, being careful not to pull upward or the hair around the face with become loose. Curl the hair around your finger with the comb, ensuring you go right to the end of the hair. Repeat this until you are satisfied that all the hair has curled in the right direction. Remove your fingers carefully, ensuring the curl remains.

Step 10

Gently tease the hair up and under to enhance the curl that you made with your fingers. Then leave sindy to dry on your window sill for several hours to let the damp hair dry thoroughly.

Sindy is finished and the result should look like this from the front.
